Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to slate the officials after their narrow 1-0 over Huddersfield on Saturday, in which a late Lucas Torreira overhead kick earned all three points for the Gunners.
However, the nerves inside the Emirates could’ve been eased much earlier than they ultimately were, as the officials deemed Alexandre Lacazette to be offside when he thought he’d opened the scoring towards the end of the first half.
The Frenchman was initially offside from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s flick on, but Mathias Zanka looked to have started a new phase of play having massively under hit his pass back to Jonal Lossl in goal, allowing Lacazette to steal in, round the keeper and score.
If it is an intentional touch from the opponent, then it doesn’t matter if Lacazette was offside or not; only if the ball accidentally bounced off Zanka and into the Arsenal number 9’s path then it should’ve been called back.
Naturally, Gunners’ supporters aren’t happy…
