Rangers have started the Scottish Premier League season somewhat tentatively, picking up five points from their opening four fixtures, and could do with more talent in their back line.
What’s the story?
Former England and Chelsea centre back John Terry has been linked with not only a potential move back to Villa Park, but reports even claim a shock move to Manchester United could be on the cards, suggesting the 37-year-old is looking for one final season in professional football.
Terry, who made over 700 first team appearances for Chelsea during his 19-year spell at the club, won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups and a UEFA Champions League, and perhaps is looking for more success this season.
With the knowledge and experience that very few could match, Rangers should make a move for the free agent in the coming days.
Would he be a good signing for Rangers?
Despite the influx of a huge number of new arrivals at the Ibrox over the summer transfer window, Steven Gerrard’s men have struggled defensively throughout the 2018/19 SPL campaign thus far.
The Gers, who have conceded five goals in their opening four league matches, have made 15 signings this summer, bringing in the likes of former Premier League defenders Jon Flanagan and Gareth McAuley to bolster their back line.
But, the acquisition of a former English top flight captain would solve Gerrard’s defensive issues once and for all.
John Terry, who made 32 Championship appearances for Aston Villa last season in England’s second tier, has yet to sign with a new club, or announce his intentions for this season.

The Premier League legend is not the player he was in his heyday, but certainly still has the capability to play at a top level, having led the Villans to the Championship play-off final last season.
The 78-cap former England captain has been without a club since the expiry of his contract at the end of last season, and would bring knowledge and talent to Rangers’ defence.
So, Rangers fans, would you take John Terry on a free transfers in the coming days? Let us know!
