Signing a new striker may be high on the list, as Jhon Duran left to join Al-Nassr, and the players brought in during January are not like-for-like replacements for the Colombian. One player that is on Villa’s radar is Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, and that is because he has been impressing in Serie A this season with 15 goals in 23 appearances. The former Everton striker has a release clause worth £43 million, and that could help the Midlands side get a deal over the line.
It’s also been reported that Villa have contacted Olympiacos in a bid to sign Charalampos Kostoulas and Christos Mouzakitis. The pair are only 17 and 18 but have become key first-team players for the Greek side. Their performances have alerted several Premier League teams, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Villa.
Aston Villa are debating whether to give Bogarde a new contract
But as well as looking at potential new arrivals, Villa chiefs are also weighing plans for the players they already have, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have held discussions over offering Lamare Bogarde a new contract.
Romano reports that Villa have discussed the idea of offering a new contract to the young midfielder, as his current deal expires in 2026. But as well as updating about Villa’s stance, Romano also states that Sevilla and Ajax have placed Bogarde high on their transfer list ahead of the summer.
The 21-year-old joined the Premier League side in September 2020 from Feyenoord, and since then, he has been part of Villa’s different academy sides, as well as enjoying two separate loan spells at Bristol Rovers. The defensive midfielder didn’t play for Villa last season, but in this 2024/25 campaign, he has featured in 10 games in all competitions.

Bogarde has started seven total games this season, and while he didn’t start in the FA Cup game against Tottenham over the weekend, he came on in the first half to replace Enzi Konsa, and after the match, Emery said Bogarde shows “consistency” when he is needed.
Bogarde will be pleased he is featuring more in the first team, but he may still want more assurances if he is going to commit to a new contract at Villa Park, as if Sevilla or Ajax can guarantee him football week in and week out, he may decide now is the right time to leave the club.
