United confirmed on Christmas Eve an agreement with Ratcliffe which will see the British businessman take a 25 percent stake in the club for a total of £1.25 billion ($1.59bn). United's majority stakeholders, Joel and Avram Glazer, stand to make a significant sum once the deal is ratified.

The Americans will take home around £715 million ($913m) from selling the shares to Ratcliffe, according to They have already earned around £465m ($594m) from previous share sales and £150m ($192m), meaning they will have pocketed over £1bn ($1.28bn) from United overall.

The takeover deal will have to be ratified by the Premier League and given the approval of the club's Class A shareholders before it can be confirmed.
