The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay has revealed the “main reason” behind why Marcelo Bielsa picks up so many yellow cards.
The Argentine is one booking away from a touchline ban having picked up three yellow cards so far this season.
Since EFL officials starting handing them out to managers at the start of the 2018/19 campaign, the former Marseille boss has been cautioned on five occasions as he roams a dugout which is quite often packed with energetic assistants who protest every decision.
Interestingly, Hay has now shed some light on why Bielsa gets booked so often – sometimes, it may not even be his fault.
The Athletic journalist revealed that the sheer amount of bodies in the technical area is a “main reason” as to why the Leeds boss gets a lot of bookings, while he also states that, if something is heard and no official is sure who said it, Bielsa will automatically take the booking as manager.
