An investigation has been launched after a pitch invader confronted Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in the Carabao Cup clash at Chelsea.

A supporter was able to get onto the pitch and approach Newcastle stopper Dubravka after Mykhailo Mudryk had equalised in stoppage time for the hosts. The supporter jostled the goalkeeper and celebrated in his face before running back to the stands at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino condemned the incident after the game, stating: "I didn't see it but I listen afterwards. My opinion? Always, I think we need to be careful, the fans need to be careful. I don't like this type of thing because it can put in danger the players.
"Of course, I am disappointed. I do not agree with this type of thing that happen in football here at Stamford Bridge and I don't agree if it happens in another stadium in England or around the world. I don't agree with this type of thing because I think it is so dangerous and I hope it doesn't happen again."

Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police are now looking into the matter – as per . Chelsea went on to win the game on penalties after Mudryk's goal saw the match end 1-1 after 90 minutes. A miss from Kieran Trippier and a save by Chelsea goalkeeper from Matt Ritchie secured a 4-2 shootout win and a place in the semi-finals for the Blues.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?
The investigation will continue and sanctions could follow if the pitch invader is identified. Leeds United were fined £40,00 and warned back in September after Eddie Howe was pushed by a fan. The supporter was also sentenced to 12 weeks in jail and handed a six-month banning order from football.
